Rangers are currently struggling in the midst of a 15-point gap in the race against Celtic who are league leaders. Rangers has been able to win just three of 11 away matches this season. While Rangers began the season strong by winning 3-0 against Brendan Rodgers’s side the last two games with Hibernian and Dundee were not exactly as expected, with both games ending in drawn games.
The team is set to play St. Johnstone and Aberdeen. The coach, Clement, is keen for the players to come back from their previous match. In the wake of a draw that was disappointing against Dundee Clement said the goal conceded in the opening minutes was an unintentional defeat. “We made it difficult for ourselves after six minutes, conceding a goal with not good defending,” He said.
Clement acknowledged that Dundee’s defense was a challenge for Rangers and they focused on ensuring a solid defensive position. Although Rangers are showing promise when it comes to the past, they have shown some promise in scoring opportunities. However but they failed on execution in this game. The manager said “I am aware of the fans’ response. Also, I’m not thrilled to lose the two points.”
The impact of injuries has been that has affected the performance of the team however Clement said that the primary issue during the clash against Dundee was the lacking of focus before the goal. It was difficult for them to turn their possession into clear scoring opportunities. Most of their chances were created by Cerny as well as Mohamed Diomande, but both did not find the goal. Diomande especially missed the goal with a goal from a long distance at the end of the game.
Clement’s disappointment was obvious in his comments about how the indecisiveness of the team and the inadequate execution led to the disappointing outcome. “Not enough clear chances. In our last pass, we were not good enough today,” Clement remarked in acknowledging that there was a need to improve.
