A listing for a real estate property has been put on the market for approximately $232 million, with Lionel Messi, the world-renowned footballer from Argentina, at the forefront. The Spanish digital market saw this listing on December 31, 2024.
Messi is the proprietor of Edificio Rostower Socimi, a property firm. It functions as an REIT. Within the REIT’s portfolio, there are seven hotels and a range of commercial spaces for both retailing and office purposes, as well as residential properties.
The REIT’s share price was estimated to be €57.40 on December 30, 2024. In Spain, the Portfolio Stock Exchange, a new and unique digital trading platform launched in 2023, was used to determine pricing. This platform is overseen by the Bank of Spain and offers companies the opportunity to trade stocks or raise funds.
The CEO of the REIT has expressed his willingness to consider new investors, but no specifics have been disclosed. The initiative indicates a desire to increase investment opportunities within the trust.
Antonela Roccuzzo, who is the vice-president of the board and Messi’s wife, are among the key figures involved in his business activities. Along with Messi, other board members include Alfonso Nebot who manages the family office of his football club Barcelona and Ramon Adell who works for Spanish energy company Naturgy. Messi’s dedication to building a strong business foundation is evident in the structure of his leadership.
From his native Argentina, Messi’s career has taken him to several places, including a long stint in Spain with FC Barcelona from the age of 12. Messi made the move to Miami in 2023, having lived in Paris for two years, shortly after guiding Argentina towards qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2022. The Rostower listing was a rapid process, as the company was recently transformed into reITs, following an unsuccessful Spanish government attempt to impose higher taxes on real estate trusts.
